Stairway to Heaven?

The news channels and newspapers are all gearing up for the 26/11 memorial (sorry i can not call it an anniversary) and with the neighbouring country going to the dogs literally with terror attacks taking place at alarming regularity in cities as well as smaller towns (something we should be very afraid about), one cannot but feel helpless in front of young boys, girls, men and women are completely brainwashed to kill so many innocent people. The promise of achieving ‘Shahadat’ after a suicide bomber has blown him/herself to smithereens, seems like stupidity to us but its a big internal motivator for these terrorists.

Walking along chor bazaar one day i came across these ladders placed along a shop with the mosque in the background. Only one song came to my mind :

“There’s a lady who’s sure

All that glitters is gold

And she’s buying a stairway to heaven
…….” – Led Zepellin

It still boggles me how one is willing to kill oneself and thousands of innocents on the verbal commitment – of a place in heaven – from a living being.

The Ladder!

One of my attempts at Abstract Photography. I was bored on the hot summer afternoon and was just roaming around my ancestral home, where a lot of construction work was going on. There wasnt much of an oppurtunity to do photography around the house. I noticed this ladder placed along one of the walls, the workers had gone to take their afternoon siesta. Yeah, in the villages, an afternoon siesta is a must. There was nothing out of the world in the ladder, but when i saw it through this angle i noticed a definite shadow. Offlate i have become very sensitive to the angle of light and all that and try as much as i can to capture images that showcase the role of shadows. This shot gave me an idea to shoot a series of photographs with a Shadow Theme. Strange how one thing leads to another.
