About Me

In 2006, when I had begun my professional life as an Assistant Systems Engineer at TCS, reading newspapers and magazines was just a hobby. Blogging had already become mainstream when I was in engineering college. I would spend hours on my blog back in the early aughts, just as a way to keep a creative outlet. I always used to wonder, what if someone paid me to do this, instead of the mind-numbing work I was doing in IT? A year of working as a production support executive, I knew IT wasn’t for me.

Little did I know, 10 years later, a leap of faith I had taken by switching career tracks, I’d be doing what I love.

I am Nimish and I’d like to welcome you to my site.

I have been working full time for over 10 years as a technology journalist. I have seen the Indian technology sector evolve from close quarters. I have covered and reviewed a host of computer components as well as consumer gadgets. Emerging technologies such as AI, Blockchain, MedTech have always been my areas of interest. Basically anywhere technology intersects with anything, that has my attention. Needless to say, the last decade has made technology an integral part of our life.

I have worked at tech2 and Firstpost from 2013 to 2020. During this period I also had a chance to visit Germany on a media scholarship in the summer of 2017. Earlier, I had worked at technology magazine Digit (2009 to 2013). I have also interned in the Mumbai Metro Bureau of India’s largest selling newspaper, The Times of India (August-November 2009), where under the guidance of senior reporters, I covered beats such as education, civic issues, crime, and more.

On 1 February 2020, I began my life as an independent journalist. Just as I had lined up multiple reporting stories and was raring to go out in the field to cover them, Covid 19 struck! It’s like my professional life has applied emergency brakes. What better time than now, to spruce up my website.

This site was a long time in the making. Despite managing a technology website, for years, I have been quite late in making one for my own. This is a work in progress and please excuse any bugs on the site. It is a earnest attempt to transform this into a blog-cum-portfolio of my work. ‘Shutterbugged’ was the name of my photo blog for the longest time. Without that blog, I wouldn’t be doing what I am doing today.

Thanks for sticking till here. It would be great to keep in touch with you. Hit me up on these social platforms. Come, say hello!
